My History Channel Fact a Day Calendar is perhaps one of my favorite things that sits on my desk. Sometimes entertaining, often enlightening, always interesting. Of particular interest today is the fact that in 1956 on this day the United States adopted the motto, "In God We Trust." As I read this, I was almost floored at the recency of this adoption. I agree with it. I wish more people truly believed this, but I think of how this nation has changed in the past 51 years, and I don't think that would be approved as our motto if it were voted on today.
It seemed particularly appropriate that this should be the fact for today, because I had some really wonderful me time this morning, and had a chance to do some early morning reflection. Today at school we have professional development, which affords me the opportunity to go into work a couple of hours later than normal. I took advantage of this and went running this morning, which is something I love to do, and wish I could do more of. Morning runs always provide such a great opportunity to reflect and process things that are going on in my life. Often they are such a wonderful time to communicate with God, and today it really was reaffirmed for me that is really is in God that I trust.

That's beautiful. I want to go running, too! I think I need some personal reflection.
