Scavenger Hunt

Our weeks here with Rustic Pathways run from Thursday to Wednesday. Kids arrive on Thursday nights, and leave on Thursday mornings. Every Wednesday night we play a different game as a type of send-off for the kids that are leaving. This week we had a scavenger hunt that covered the entire base and surrounding village, and required at least six miles of running. I haven't been this tired since Survive DC. Each team was assigned a male and female staff, and color. Each team then has 90 minutes to find 39 different flags. At each flag there is a code, and some codes can only be retrieved by completing challenges. Flags that were further away were worth more points, as were more intense challenges. So, so much fun! And so, so much work to organize.

As you can see, as a staff we get pretty into these games, probably more than the kids. This a picture of most of the people I'm working with here at the base. Some come, some go, but over the course of the summer we all work together at some point.

For this particular challenge my team, Team Intensity, took third. We were so close to second--a mere two points behind the next team.

Next time, they better watch out. I'll have hiked for two weeks straight, and I'm bringing my A game.

Ann you have way too much fun. Sometimes I wish I was you.

I think your hunt should have chasers. If not, make yourself one. I am sure being chased through a Thai jungle would be very memorable for the kids.
