We thought I was in the clear. So much so, that when I ended up the bus that went to border, they sent another bus to pick me up so I could go shopping with the kids.
Big mistake.
On Tuesday I had to get to the border. We realized I was going backpacking for the next two weeks, with no chance to cross a border before my visa expired. Laos is really only 60k away from here, a 45 minute drive at most. And so the adventure began. Instead of two hours, however, it took us nine hours for me to get to Laos, get a visa, and get back.
We started in the company van. Transferred to a bus, that took us to a bus station in Nong Khai. From the bus we took a tuk-tuk (small wagon pulled by 250cc motorbike) to the actual border. There we got on a bus to actually cross the border. Then another tuk-tuk into Laos to get some lunch. A tuk-tuk back. Another bus ride. Another tuk-tuk. Another bus. And back to van.
Today I took a bus into Udon Thani, and the girls I was with commented on how well I am able to take public transportation. I'm not going to lie, I'm getting pretty good.

Do your skills with public transportation correlate to your acquisition of a master's degree?
Hmm....adventure does seem to be the correct word to you. You seem to be doing alright. Hmm??? We miss ya!
