September Adventure Dos: West Virginia

In the middle of a tropical storm Christian and I headed west. Country roads took us to West Virginia. We would have loved to reschedule since mother nature clearly had different plans for us, but Christian is a Resident, and rarely has the weekend off. So, we took advantage of his golden weekend of having the entire weekend off, and set off to explore with no real plans. We started in Harper's Ferry, where the Potomac and Susquehanna rivers meet. It's a beautiful area, and is even more enjoyable with there isn't a torrential downpour.

After checking that out for the morning, we sat down for lunch with no real plans for what we should do next. We opened up a brochure and stumbled upon the best things West Virginia has to offer: Pickin' in the Panhandle. A barbecue and bluegrass festival!

Seriously, among the best weekends I've had in a long time. It rained for about an hour of our time at the festival, but it cleared out and we spent a total of 5 hours sitting listening to banjos, fiddlers, and some incredible bluegrass. Pickin' in the Panhandle will for sure be attended again next fall.
