Flag Day!

We've been really excited about celebrating Flag Day all week! I've never celebrated any more than putting a flag outside of the house, but this year we decided to really go all out.
This is my friend Brent (not to be confused with my other good friend: Brent). He was one of my really good friends while I was going to school in Michigan. His wife was my visiting teaching companion, and I spent a lot of time at their house. He has an internship in DC this summer and surprised me by coming up the Baltimore University Ward today (since it's hard for me to miss my ward....). He helped us whip up this little masterpiece to really celebrate, since all good parties are about good food, right?

We also went over to Fort McHenry. Now, really we went to Fort McHenry because it's part of our Summer Sunday routine. But it also fit really well into our Flag Day celebration. Holy cow, who knew that many people would want to celebrate Flag Day?! We can normally park right up by the water at the Fort, and today we had to park outside the Fort and hike in. Once we got in, there were search dogs that went through all of our things.

However, the people watching and beautiful weather made it well worth the wait. You have never seen so many flag t-shirts, polos, blankets, shorts, and toys. The Fourth of July doesn't compare. It was incredible. We were also there in the early afternoon, so we got to hear all the dress reherasals for the local talent that would be performing later in the night during the fireworks. Uh-mazing. Wow. A true Baltimore experience.

All in all, another quality holiday.

Thanks for coming to celebrate, Brent!
