The Fourth of July was SUPER fun this year. Most all of my close friends have moved, but we still had a really great time. It's been a few years since I've really gotten to celebrate (Thailand last year, mono the year before....), and it really is my favorite holiday!

The day started with the usual Fourth of July Jaunt. I toyed with the idea of entering a local race, but the only close race was a 10K, and I knew I couldn't "race" that. So I saved my money, wore some festive colors, and ran around the reservoir. From there, it was off to the "All-American" farmers market were we picked up some peaches and I worked on my
hoola hooping skills. Not lying, I have
practiced my
hoola-hooping nearly every day of my fourth-grade teaching career, and had pretty much hung up my hoop. Who knew I just needed a bigger hoop? Lesson learned: The bigger and heavier the hoop, the easier it is.

Then it was home for super patriotic waffles. Thanks, Andrew, for being the waffle model.

Then off to a local parade. Baltimore had one, but I was really longing for the small-town feel of
Kaysville, so we headed out to the little town I first lived in when I moved here. I just wasn't up for fighting the crowds in Baltimore. That being said, the average age of the spectators and
participants in the parade was about 50. I'm not lying. There wasn't a single high-school entry in the parade...not even a marching band. (Although there were PLENTY of bands, just most of them retired army.)

Then back home for the classic 4
th BBQ.

And back out to the small town fireworks at the football field. Very
reminiscent of laying on the
DHS field.
Not the same as home, but still a REALLY great Fourth. Now if only the neighbors wanted to water fight.

Ok, loved the waffle idea. And I really like how you are using your porch. Who knew so many people could fit on it? Looks like it was a fun day.
Thanks for the hula hoop pointers. I try to hula hoop with my girls and can never get it to work! I agree there is nothing like the Kaysville parade...they handed out stuffed animals this year. My girls were so excited...okay, and maybe so was I :)
