What an interesting and beautiful landscape. We stayed primarily along the coast, starting R
eykjavik, and then driving to the West
Fjords, and then over to the East. It's a small country of
predominantly lava fields,
volcanoes, and glaciers. It's very desolate. But stunningly beautiful.

We spent most days traveling through the country, not really staying one place. The country only has 300,000 people, and there really aren't places to just "stop and get a bite to eat." This was a typical lunch prep, heating hot water to eat lunch with. Notice the rocks supporting the wind guard, and the rock on top of the pot. It was INCREDIBLY windy and very, very cold.

Because there are so few people, and most of them live near R
eykjavik, there are about three paved roads in the entire country. (You think I'm
exaggerating...I'm not.) We stayed
predominantly on the road that loops the coast, but as we ventured off, this was typically what greeted us.

The fence and the top picture are totally pictures that you should enlarge and hang on your wall, beautiful. I am so jealous that I did not take them myself. Looks cold, yet wonderful.
I know, they are beautiful! But don't be too jealous...I didn't take them. We compiled all our pictures from the trip, and Brent took all these.
gorgeous pictures. Iceland is now on the list.
So did you all just rent a car and start driving? How did you know where to go?
Note to self, never go to Iceland.
