The snow has done wonders for my reading! It's been so fun to cuddle up with a cup of cocoa and just READ. Here is what I've finished:
Warning! Sara, scroll at your own risk!
Had never read it. So sad. But so good.

we are definitely sisters! The only thing I haven't read on your list is Omnivore's Dilemma - I've been eyeing it for awhile but it just seemed so intense...now I know I can go with the young readers edition. :) Looks like you're having a blast! Keep up the good work!
Darn! I blew right past my warning due to the pretty pictures - ugh. I still am the little kid who looks for her presents before Christmas...sigh. But, hooray!!!!!! Can't wait to read, and laugh.
Also, if you can slog through Bronte, I'm pretty sure you can handle Pollan - didn't you know that "The Omnivore's Dilemma," has a gothic love story as the plot?
Oh, and wait - you thought Jane Eyre was sad? Am I not remembering it correctly? I don't recall it being "happy," but I thought it turned out okay...mind you, I read it in middle school.
In the end, yes, Jane Eyre is oh so happy. But her entire life leading up to that is SO SAD! So it's 479 pages of slight to major depression, to get to three pages of bliss. But like I said, it's good. :)
