Second-Grade Bribery

One great thing about second graders: They will do anything for almost nothing.

They've wanted to see my wedding pictures for months, and I've truthfully not had them on my work computer, and the filter at school won't let me access them online. But instead of telling them that, I just say things like, "Maybe one day if you're super good, I'll show them to you."

(A side-note to help paint the picture of the anticipation. I've had the same picture of my family on my desktop the ENTIRE year. And yet, anytime anyone gets even a glimpse of it they shout out, "Did you see Ms. Passey?! She's the one in the green!)

Well, they were super good this week, and after months of anticipation, they got to see maybe five pictures that I  asked Andrew to email me so I could bribe my kids.

I put them up, and was greeted with this (Please try and say each with the attitude of a small black child)

Whose that, Miz Passey?

Oh, I didn't knows that was you with all that make up on.

Your hair is done!

Is that your sister?

Is that your cousin?

You camouflaged with the snow!

How'd you grow a mustache so fast?

Why you grow a mustache Miz Passey?

It was REALLY entertaining. Since I only showed them five, and I have about five hundred, I now have bribery for the rest of the year.

That's so adorable! My favorite D.C.ism of all time is "you look a mess." Meaning of course you look terrible. You look gorgeous in all your pictures, but it was funny to hear people say stuff like that there. Enjoy the fun culture while you're there. Try giving them cinnamon bears sometime. They don't have those there. The kids in my primary class were so confused...it was adorable!-Michelle's sister p.s. that green dress is GORGEOUS!!
