Water Bill Mystery

We got our water bill in the mail today, and I'm totally confused.

They said that from June 16-September 16 we averaged 32 gallons of water per day.

We were out of town from June 28-August 28. And I know our house-sitter wasn't using that much water. When we got back all the water had evaporated out of our toilets, the house was so hot after the AC broke. A human couldn't have been here very often in those temperatures.

Our gas and electric bill while we were gone was $32. I'm also pretty sure the house-sitter didn't hang out in the dark.

We don't have a washing machine, or a dishwasher.

?

How does one argue with a meter though? Or better, a meter-man?

In d.C. there were ALWAYS problems with our electric and gas bills...ALWAYS. Call them and talk to them about it. I'm sure there's an exceptional level of customer service, just like the one that exists all over D.C. :)
