Commuting

Since I am now the proud owner of a bike, I have been riding my bike and taking lightrail to work. One day last week I had two really awesome experiences commuting...on the same day.

On the way up to work I carried my bike onto the lightrail and sat down. You don't have a lot of options for seating with a bike, because you need to be able to support the bike, generally. I sat down in front of this man, who immediately began flirting. He wanted to know how old I was, and if I was married, and kept asking questions. I tried to ignore him.

After about five minutes of this, his phone rang, he said excuse me, and answered his phone. It was his girlfriend. She was at central booking. My favorite part of their conversation, "Boo, what name did you give them?"

Classic.

On the way home, I got on and lo and behold there were three former students. Three really nice girls that I had taught four years ago as fourth graders. They were now in 8th grade, and they were on their way home from the State Fair. We sat and talked and had a really nice time.

One of them, however, had too much sprite before getting on the train. They had gone on all the rides at the fair, and her stomach was upset, so she drank a bottle of sprite to try and settle her stomach. About 15 minutes in she got really pale, and said, "Ms. Passey, I don't feel so good."

About 10 seconds after that, she puked. All over the train.

She was really upset, but felt much better. I reassured she was not the first to throw up on the lightrail in Baltimore, and assuredly would not be the last either.

When you posted on facebook and you said she had too much to drink I had imagined a drunk, but it appears that it was Sprite. Phew!
