Andrew had Spring Break this week, and although he still worked another full time job for most of the week, it was so nice to have him only working ONE job, instead of the usual two. We took advantage of Friday and went down to DC one last time before we have baby girl. We stayed overnight at a hotel and thought, "We won't need to set an alarm, of course we'll wake up in time for 11 o'clock check out." Um, we woke up at 10:35. Think we've been a little tired?
We stopped at the MLK Jr. Memorial, as neither of us had ever seen it. It really is lovely, and so inspiring. I think it's probably more evident to Andrew and I at this point in our lives than ever before that there is still so much disparity in America, and that segregation and equality issues have not bee solved. It's inspiring to be reminded of how much MLK did, and that we can also have an impact.
This is the entrance to the monument. It's a mountain, and then MLK is carved out of a pieces that fits into the gap. On the monument of MLK it says, "Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope."
We may have gotten the most incredible parking EVER. You can see the monument in the background on the left side. Who gets this kind of parking on Friday at 4 in DC? The Coys.
After our late wake-up we went out for brunch, and stayed for probably two hours. We ate at Belgian restaurant in Dupont Circle called Le Pain Quotidien, where we thoroughly enjoyed our REAL belgian waffles (which really more of a dessert than a breakfast, but are SO good!) After brunch we wandered up and down Embassy Row and looked at all the embassies. Most of them are housed in old homes, and it was really fun to see all their flags flying. PLUS, the entire city was in full bloom, so we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!
And our last stop, the temple. We wanted to get there one last time before Baby Girl arrives.
All in all, it was a pretty perfect day.

That is so fun! I'm glad you guys could have a little fun on his semi-spring break :) We will have to get some tips from you guys the next time we go to DC, you're regulars there!
PS every time I see you've updated your blog, I think you've had your baby... this was good too :)
Zombies run like that. Maybe the sign meant "No zombie running"
